Greetings,
Thanks go out to writer and friend Larry Sweazy for pointing out this article at http://www.salon.com/books/review/2007/11/27/true_grit/ which begins:
"Nov. 27, 2007 | The 40th anniversary reissue of Charles Portis' "True Grit" is the third go-around for the novel since its publication and simultaneous serialization in the Saturday Evening Post. In a saner world, it wouldn't have to be reissued, it would have always remained in print."
Aside from a rather back-handed insult to fans of John Wayne, it's an interesting look at one of the most deservedly famous Westerns of the last fifty years, as well as other books by Portis. Go on by and take a read.
Regards,
Russell
